The Trophy Case
In the fall of 1991, Fort Worth participated in a Sister City program. Our Sister City was Osaka, Japan. Several delegates from Osaka toured Fort Worth with a few educators and members of the wheelchair basketball team. They asked to tour schools for children with disabilities.
They visited Jo Kelly School, among others, and presented these items from their country and basketball team. In turn, our students presented them with artwork and unique Texas gifts.
Jo Kelly participated in Special Olympics from 1986 through the mid-90s. Students enjoyed the activity and social interaction of the meets.
Medals were awarded based on student performance and trophies were awarded for team participation.
