Unfortunately, navigating the complex financial aid system remains difficult and time-consuming, causing many students to lose out on valuable financial help. DOD STEM SCHOLARSHIPS The Department of Defense offers many scholarships for high school students interested in entering the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) field. For more information on the various scholarships they offer, click the button.

MARINE CORPS SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION Applicants for the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation must be the child of an active duty or reserve U.S. Marine, a veteran U.S. Marine who has received an honorable discharge, or who was killed while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, an active duty or reserve U.S. Navy Corpsman who has been attached to a U.S. Marine unit, or a veteran U.S. Navy Corpsman who was attached to a U.S. Marine unit and has received an honorable discharge, or was killed while serving in the U.S. Navy as a Corpsman attached to a Marine unit. Additionally, applicants must have at least a 2.0 GPA and must be able to demonstrate financial need. Must be planning to attend an accredited undergraduate college or career training school in the upcoming academic year.

Full Tuition Scholarships

THE GATES SCHOLARSHIP The Gates Scholarship, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is a highly-selective, last-dollar scholarship for Pell Grant-eligible high school seniors from minority backgrounds. The Gates Scholarship aims to help students maximize their potential by attaining academic excellence through college graduation.

ALFOND SCHOLARSHIPS

Up to 10 students receive full, four-year scholarship covering tuition, room and board, books and fees at the university.​ Alfond Scholars will receive up to $49,760 in financial assistance per year. Scholarships are renewable for three additional years provided students maintain a 3.3 GPA.

FIU PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship provides 100 percent of tuition and fees, plus books. Scholarships are renewable if the student maintains: full-time status; a grade point average of 3.0 or higher; and completion of 30 credit hours between fall and spring terms.

JKCF SCHOLARSHIP

The Jack Kent Cook Foundation's College Scholarship Program is a highly-selective scholarship for high-achieving high school seniors with unmet financial need who intend to enroll full time in an accredited four-year college beginning in Fall 2020. LEADERSHIP ESSAY COMPETITION

The Leadership Essay Contest focuses on the roles of leadership and character in the U.S. Sea Services from the perspective of tomorrow's leaders. Junior officers (LCDR/Major and below)from the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard are eligible to participate.

Submission Guidelines

  • Essays must be no more than 2,000 words maximum, excluding end notes and sources.

  • Include word count on title page of the essay.

  • Essays are judged in the blind. Do not include your name on the title page or in the body of the essay.

StudentCam is C-SPAN's annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect our communities and our nation. This year students in grades 6-12 are asked to create a short (5-6 minute) video documentary on a topic related to the competition theme, "Explore the issue you most want the president and new Congress to address in 2021."

COUPON CHIEF SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Here at Coupon Chief, we want to support young leaders that understand frugality and saving money, and how the skills and knowledge of using coupons can contribute to that end. As high school and college students form their own budgets and financial plans outside of the home, they can be challenged in these areas. We hope to help future leaders in the areas of fiscal responsibility with this scholarship.

The only requirement is to upload a 2-5 minute video to Youtube that details one of 2 things:

  1. Introduce yourself, mentioning your grade and college you will be attending.

  2. How you personally save money as a college student.

Your video must also include a short intro about your reasons for living a frugal lifestyle, and in the video description, link back to this scholarship page

TECHNOLOGY ADDICTION AWARENESS SCHOLARSHIP

​Young people spend an average of 7.5 hours a day consuming media--and this doesn't include computer use for schoolwork--according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. With technology always at the ready at your fingertips, it can be a challenge to unplug. But taking a break from technology is healthy for both the mind and body. The purpose of this scholarship is to help you understand the negative effects of too much screen time. To apply, you will need to complete your application form which has a 140-character message about technology addiction. The top 10 applications will be selected as finalists. The finalists will be asked to write a full length 500- to 1,000-word essay about technology addiction.

STEPHEN J. BRADY STOP HUNGER SCHOLARSHIPS

NIADA FOUNDATION REGIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

The NIADA Foundation promotes the academic growth of youth throughout the United States and awards scholarships annually at the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association Convention. The Foundation proudly sponsors four young men or women each year who have displayed outstanding abilities in education. Applicants must be high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and high SAT and ACT scores. An essay will also be required as part of the application. DISCOVER STUDENT LOANS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Drawings will be conducted by HelloWorld, Inc., an independent judging organization whose decisions are final. DNA DAY ESSAY CONTEST

National DNA Day commemorates the completion of the Human Genome Project in April 2003 and the discovery of the double helix of DNA in 1953. DNA Day is April 25 each year. This contest asks students to examine, question, and reflect on important concepts in genetics. Essays are expected to be well-reasoned arguments indicative of a depth of understanding of the concepts related to the essay question. OCEAN AWARENESS STUDENT CONTEST

The 2020 Ocean Awareness Contest is a call for young artists, conservationists, makers, thinkers, and activists who are concerned about the future of our blue planet. A VOICE FOR ANIMALS CONTEST

The Humane Education Network in partnership with the Animal Welfare Institute offers an Annual A Voice for Animals High School Contest. The competition has sections for 14-15-year-old students and sections for 16-18-year-old students. Scholarship requirements vary. This year we will have a special prize category for submissions that address the history of animal welfare over the last three decades. This could mean showcasing the progress made in improving the lives of animals over the years and/or examining where society has fallen short. THE NATIONAL WWII MUSEUM ANNUAL STUDENT ESSAY CONTEST

​The National World War II Museum will accept the first 500 valid entries only. The applicant will be notified if his/her entry is accepted. Essays will be judged for originality, clarity of expression, adherence to contest theme, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. This is not a research paper about Anne Frank or World War II, but the opinions in the essay should be backed by historical evidence from WWII as well as modern-day events. Winners will be notified and announced in May.

ALISA'S ANGEL SCHOLARSHIPS

The Alisa's Angels Scholarship was founded in memory of Alisa, who was committed to helping others because "that is what we were put on earth to do". CONSTITUTING AMERICA WE THE FUTURE CONTEST

VOICE OF DEMOCRACY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Voice of Democracy Scholarship Competition is an annual national audio essay contest that is designed to foster patriotism by giving high school students the opportunity to voice their opinions about their personal obligations as Americans, and address their responsibilities to our country. Applicants must win at the local level to advance to the district and state levels. Each department's first-place winner receives an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., plus the opportunity to compete for the national scholarship. If selected as a first-place state winner, the applicant has to have the consent of his/her parent/guardian and school to attend the Voice of Democracy National Finals in Washington, D.C. as a guest of the VFW National Organization. State winners who do not attend will forfeit all rights to compete in the national finals and will be replaced by their state's second-place winner.

WWF CONSERVATION LEADERSHIP AWARD

The WWF-US Conservation Leadership Award acknowledges the achievements of exceptional young people working toward conservation solutions in the United States, and seeks to inspire other young people to get involved in opportunities within their communities. The award recognizes and celebrates youth leaders in their community who are pushing the needle and making outstanding contributions for the environment—leading initiatives across issues including climate change mitigation, wildlife conservation, food waste, and habitat protection.

DELETE CYBERBULLYING SCHOLARSHIP

In an effort to get students committed to the cause of deleting cyberbullying, we are offering the Delete Cyberbullying Scholarship Award for high school, college and graduate student a scholarship to help cover educational expenses. NFFA YOUNG ARTS PROGRAM

Students who have received Honorable Mention Awards or Merit Awards, as well as other participants who did not receive a youngARTS award, are eligible if they meet the age requirement. Students will be notified of the results. If they have been invited to participate in youngARTS Week, they will be given instructions. During youngARTS Week, finalists will participate in master classes, workshops, interviews, performances and exhibitions. The final judging will take place during this time and a panel of judges will determine cash awards.

The Pathmaker Level I internship gives high school students the opportunity to actively learn about what it takes to succeed in both high school and the healthcare field from mentors at the Palomar Medical Center Escondido and Palomar Medical Center Downtown Escondido.
