Dear Potential Graduate,
Our annual Graduation Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Parkview Manor (55 Barber Greene Rd #1, North York, ON M3C 2A1). Graduates are expected to arrive at 9:00 a.m. to organize the procession lineup. Please review the important information below.
Graduation Requirement:
It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that our Guidance Department has received all outstanding documentation pertaining to Diploma requirements, such as community service hours and any credits obtained outside of YMCI. If you have not yet submitted such documentation, please submit them to the Guidance office by Friday, June 13th to ensure that you are identified as a Potential Graduate according to our school records. Failure to submit such documentation by Friday, June 13th may result in: your name not appearing in the Graduation program, and ineligibility to receive your diploma at the Graduation Ceremony.
Grad Pack:
Graduating students who plan to attend the Graduation Ceremony can purchase a Grad Pack ($60) using School Cash Online from today, May 30th through Friday June 13th. The Grad Pack includes grad admission, two guest tickets, a cap & gown, Class of 2025 composite, and photo crossing the stage. If you have any difficulties navigating this payment, please come to the main office for assistance. Please note that tickets will not be available for purchase on the day of the Graduation Ceremony. If our numbers permit, extra guest ticket(s) will be available to purchase from June 16th – 20th. Grad Packs are available to purchase on School Cash Online.
Outstanding Materials:
Please remember to return all school materials such as, textbooks, library books, team uniforms and any other items belonging to YMCI by Friday, June 20th, 2025.

What does the Valedictorian do?
As a fellow graduate, the Valedictorian represents the voices of the graduating class. The Valedictorian gives a closing/farewell speech at the graduation ceremony which should commemorate the students’ high school experiences. The speech should inspire the graduates as well as thank those responsible for their successes.
Criteria for Nomination:
• Will be graduating by June 2025
• Has demonstrated commitment to learning and achievement
• Is an engaged, committed and contributing member of the York Mills Collegiate school community
• Has strong public speaking skills
• Is inclusive and respectful of all members of our school community
Valedictorian candidates will be announced on May 2nd.
Prom tickets were distributed May 9 during Period 2. If you did not receive your ticket, please pick it up from Ms. Muere in the Library May 12 to 16 (8:45- lunch). As well, visit @ymciprom25 on Instagram to vote for Prom Awards, send song requests, and submit photos for the Prom slideshow before next Friday!

It's time to capture your special milestone! A $35 session fee is required at this time, to secure your appointment. This $35 fee includes your photography session, an 11"x14" print of your Graduating Class Composite and secures access to your exclusive Graduation Online Portrait Gallery. During your appointment, the photographer will provide you with access codes to your exclusive Graduation Online Portrait Gallery for you to view and purchase. These photos will be available to view 10 business days after your school's last graduation appointment has been taken.
Please respect your appointment time and remember to come prepared for your photo session. Collared shirts pair well with the graduation gowns and please bring your smile!

If you wish to submit a baby photo (up to 3 years of age), there will be an opportunity to do so at a later date. Your school MUST identify on OUAC the following:
you are enrolled
upload midterm mark
York Mills guidance counsellor MUST receive either a transcript or report card directly from the school (via mail or e-mail) once the course is complete (ideally prior to June 14th)
If you are taking a TDSB NIght school or e-Learning course no action is required.
If you want to take a summer school course to upgrade a mark, you will need to get permission from the college/university if it is required for admission.

Beginning with students that entered Grade 9 in the 2020-21 school year, students must earn at least two online learning credits to get their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
Note that "Remote" learning credits such as those taken through the Continuing Education Summer School program DO NOT count as an online learning credit. Credits earned through the eLearning Summer School program do count towards this requirement.

Students graduating after August 2022 are required to earn 40 hours of community service in order to meet their graduation requirement.

You need to have a total of 10 French Immersion credits to earn your French Immersion Certificate, or 11 French Immersion credits to earn your Honours French Immersion certificate. You can check this on MyBlueprint (a French Immersion course has a "5" at the end of the course code).
In both cases one of the above credits must be FIF4U5.
COURSE WITHDRAWAL (FULL DISCLOSURE)
If you are considering dropping a course, please communicate with your Counsellor to discuss and determine your eligibility on or before the dates below. Parent/Guardian consent is required through the completion of our virtual drop form.
The deadline dates for the 2023/2024 school year to drop a course without it appearing on your transcript are:
SEMESTER 1: MEET WITH YOUR COUNSELLOR BY: Nov. 15, 2024; DROP DATE: Nov. 20, 2024 (NOTE: The upload to OUAC and OCAS happens between Nov. 15 and Nov. 19)
SEMESTER 2: MEET WITH YOUR COUNSELLOR BY: April 25, 2025; DROP DATE: Apr. 30, 2025 (NOTE: The upload to OUAC and OCAS happens between Apr. 17 and Apr. 24)
PLEASE NOTE: Students withdrawing from a Grade 11 or 12 course after these deadline dates, the course will be recorded on the transcript.
Sometime over the summer you will likely lose your TDSB student email address and also lose access to your TDSB Google Drive. In order to prevent the loss of important files you should transfer the data in your Google Drive to somewhere safe. We cannot help you recover files if you fail to do this!! Inform your counsellor of ANY credits that you are enrolled in outside of the TDSB. This includes the TCDSB, other school boards, and private schools.
Final reports must be sent to York Mills directly by your school prior to June 15 to be considered for our commencement ceremonies and final mark transmission to colleges and universities in early July. You may provide your school with your counsellor's email address to facilitate this. We will also accept a report card in an envelope signed and sealed by your school.

All Grade 12s are welcome to vote for this year’s Prom Theme using this Google Form. Voting closes on Friday, February 7.
