This course will focus on the use of the Digital SLR camera to create and manipulate the camera or image to produce a desire result. All aspects of the basic DSLR use will be explained: shutter speed, aperture, exposure, as well understanding the various digital formats and photographic paper prints. Students will also learn and use Adobe Photoshop techniques to manipulate their photographs. Throughout the year, the students will produce a body of work demonstrating an understanding of digital photography and a portfolio of images that show their developing personal style. In addition, students will learn to develop their own creativity, create an artist statement, and prepare for post-secondary instruction in the field of photography. The students will study the history of photography as it relates to contemporary photographers and the rise of the digital medium.
NOTE: The prerequisite to take this course is Grade 11 Photography (AWQ 3M1) and/or Grade 11 Art (AVI 3M1)
