Join us for our Grade 8 OPEN HOUSE -- December 3rd, 2025 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm
Silverthorn Collegiate Institute’s English Department offers a wide range of courses for all pathways for students who are College and University bound. Senior students who have a love of storytelling can take Writer's Craft (Creative Writing) to use all of the skills they have learned to create their own masterpiece.
In grade 11, students will take the NBE course (Understanding Contemporary First Nations, Metis and Inuit Voices). Students have the opportunity to gain new insights into Indigenous cultures in Canada by examining themes of identity, sovereignty, and self-determination. Students most recently went on a trip to see a spectacular performance by Outside Looking In (OLI) an Indigenous led organization that holds an annual Indigenous showcase. The organization provides opportunities for Indigenous youth to gain skills for success.
