Join us for our Grade 8 OPEN HOUSE -- December 3rd, 2025 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm
This course introduces photography as an expressive art form, emphasizing design theory and the historical development of photography within the broader visual arts. Students will explore digital imaging, manipulation, and a variety of studio-based projects. Alongside creative skill-building, the course supports key workplace competencies such as problem solving, time management, organization, mentorship, and collaboration. Using the creative process, students will produce artworks on diverse subjects and engage in critical analysis. They will also examine photography through personal, contemporary, historical, and cultural lenses to deepen their understanding of the medium.
Museum of Contemporary Art: photography and SHSM students participated in a guided tour of the "Jeff Wall: Photographs" exhibit and then participated in a hands-on photographic collage workshop themed on the artist's work.
