UPDATE ON CURRENT TEAMS.............
Relay practices are taking place every morning and afternoon recess. We have been working together on exchanges, proper hand off position, taking a knee after the exchange so as not to interfere with other athletes and handing off to a moving target.
Lunch time will be kept free for our jumpers, shot put, 80/200/400/1500m runners.
Mornings are dedicated to slo-pitch and rugby, with slo pitch semi finals and finals scheduled for June 5th at Christie Pits.
Co-ed Rugby date is up in the air, but City Finals are June 14th, so in class sessions have begun, and will be used to pick our team for the year. Tournament will likely take place at Williamson Road and hoping for last week of May, or early June.
Slo pitch tournament was great and we will move on to the next round with the #1 seed!! The semi finals and the finals for the south are played on the same day, and are going to be held on
June 5th at Christie Pits.

Boys slo pitch cancelled May 14th due to rain and wet field conditions, and weather network has it raining until 11am.
Looking better the rest of the week. Rain or shine, I need to get the boys together, as our tournament is on the 22nd. Let's do practice Wed, Thurs, Fri morning. No rain, we are outside. If it's raining, we will go in the gym. I'll post a schedule for the tournament here soon.
We had a great day at track and field on May 7th, with 33 total Grade 4/5 athletes participating this year. For many, it was their first taste of track at Birchmount, and there were some excellent results and especially positive attitudes on the day.
There are now 20 moving on to the South Conference Finals on June 3rd, also at Birchmount, as they placed in the top 3. Please check the results page for who made it.
Practices will begin to take place on a more regular basis to help prepare our athletes as best we can, so they have their best shot at placing top 4 and moving on to the City Finals at Birchmount June 11th.

MEET DATE: May 7th @ Birchmount (top 3 move on)
SOUTH CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP: June 3rd @ Birchmount (top 4 move on)
CITY CHAMPIONSHIP: June 11th @ Birchmount
The following is a complete list of our current track team. Congratulations to those athletes who made the team. Students were chosen based on performance in the classroom, at track and field day, and separate testing with Mr. Webb.
There will be approximately 25 schools participating in this meet. Practices have begun in class, recess and lunch when weather permits, in order to prepare each athlete for their events. If there is a scheduled practice, even if last minute, students are asked to do their best to attend or if not available, to touch base with the coach.
A schedule of events for the Track and Field meet is included here. Students competing in the 1500m (Emmet, Kotaro), Grade 4 girls running long jump (Arrisa, Mia), Grade 5 girls triple jump (Lila), Grade 4 girls triple jump (Athena), and Grade 5 girls standing long jump (Lauren, Isabella) will need to be driven to the meet as their event will take place before the bus arrives. Arrangements are currently under way to take care of these athletes. If you are the parent of one of the above athletes, please reach out to Mr. Webb right away to confirm transportation.
Mr. Webb will be saving seats in the upper South West section of the stadium, and will be at Birchmount as of 8am on the 7th. Mrs. Pace will be at the school and transport the athletes on the bus at approx 9am, and return to Gledhill around 2pm. Some students will remain behind at Birchmount with Mr. Webb as their event will still be in progress. Please let me know if you are able to help drive either to the meet, or back to school. All athletes, unless otherwise instructed, are asked to meet Mrs. Pace in the gym at 8am on the 7th to get a jersey, a competition number and take attendance.
A reminder that a one time Police check must be completed in order to be able to drive other students.
Permission forms will be handed out Wednesday, May 1st. Please make sure to have them back to Mr.Webb by Friday, May 3rd.
No cleats are permitted, so just make sure each athlete has running shoes, a snack, water, lunch, and proper athletic wear to compete. It generally gets colder and windy when sitting, so also remember to dress for this and provide layers.

I am cancelling tomorrows practice before school for ball hockey in anticipation of TDESAA cancelling all school sports.
Also, as of posting this message at 12pm on Monday, Feb 11th, I have no clear indication if our quarter final match will be a go tomorrow either. We are still scheduled to play as of now at 10am tomorrow, but that could change depending on weather.
Best thing to do is to check in here, or call the office at Gledhill for an update.
