1. Decide on a clear signal to show when you are in and out of role. Here are some ideas...
a) Snap your fingers
b) Turn your back to the class. When you turn around, you're in role.
c) Leave the classroom and re-enter in role.
d) Use a piece of clothing (e.g. a scarf or hat). When you put it on, you're in role.
e) Change from a sitting to a standing position.
Remember: When a student is in role, be polite and respectful. Please do not talk, and respect the student who is acting. Save your questions until they are finished. Follow the golden rule: Treat others the way that you would like to be treated when you act in front of others.
