Information for Reading and Recording Books

Copyright Information/Access:

Recording Reading of Books:

Some of the information received is that if teachers want to record a video of themselves reading books and want to share it on a platform where it can be stored for a period of time (eg. website) then permission and guidelines need to be followed that publishers have set. There are some publishers who have given permission for this but it is best to check each book and the publisher accordingly.

*You can review the guidelines here and see which publishing companies allow this: https://www.accesscopyright.ca/read-aloud/

Reading a book on a platform where it can't be stored:

Some of the information received is that if you are reading a book aloud for example on Google Hangouts or a Zoom Call then it is sort of like reading a book aloud in a classroom. We should read the author and illustrator's name.
