This project takes students about 1.5 - 2 hours to complete. It worked well during our long morning class. To help maintain social distancing, students were able to divide up the building tasks: one person made the armature, another the bearings / field magnets setup and then put the parts together.
The rotating part of the motor!
The coil that is on the armature.
Fixed field magnets that the armature will sit in.
Bearings hold the axel of the armature in place.
Brushes supply a current to the rotating coil.
Attaching the brushes and making a complete motor!
