Accommodations may be provided to ELLs on Steps 1-4 of English language acquisition. Exemptions from some or all of the assessment may be necessary for students in very early steps. Decisions about accommodations and special considerations are made by the school administration in consultation with the student, parents/guardians, and appropriate staff. (See EQAO: ELLs and EQAO: Accommodations and Exemptions).
All ELLs may use a dual-language dictionary or resource (including electronic or personal) for writing only and a digital or paper dual-language resource (e.g., translating tool or glossary) for mathematics.
All students have access in the e-assessment system to the built-in speech-to-text tool that reads all questions and passages, including those in the reading component, to students.
