Welcome to the Gifted Program at CHPS

Welcome to the Gifted program at Churchill Heights PS. We are happy you are joining our school. The program runs grades 4-8

This program is called an Intensive Support Programs (ISP). These programs work to fulfill student’s specific learning needs and provide more intensive support than regular program in home schools, as determined by student profiles

ISP programs are geared to meet the special needs of exceptional students (Giftedness),

Gifted Program Placement

All Grade 3 TDSB students are screened for the Gifted exceptionality. This is done through a test known as the COGAT. Based on that screening, should students meet the requirements, they would go on to "Phase 2" testing which is conducted by a TDSB psychologist. Should they meet criteria, the case would be presented to the Identification Placement Review Committee (IPRC), in which parents are invited to sit with the committee to help determine the best placement for the student. Students for whom a gifted Intensive Support Program (ISP) is recommended, either through the IPRC process or the Special Education Program Recommendation Committee (SEPRC) process, will be offered a placement in an ISP.

It is possible that a program in any given site can reach capacity, which may result in some students being directed to another site location with available program space.
