A Quick Guide to IEPs
An Individual Educational Plan (IEP) outlines the expectations your child is working on for the school year that may be different from the expectations from your child's grade. It consists of an annual program goal and term by term goals and is a living document that teachers can revise or change at any time.
An IEP is required for students who may have a placement in a special education program, determined by a central special education process called an IPRC (Identification, Placement and Review Committee). It may also be developed for students who have not been formally identified as exceptional but who require extra support within the classroom.
Parent Consultation and regular meetings are an essential part of the success of an IEP.
