How to Register Online

Once in PowerSchool, click Class Registration from the left hand Navigation menu.

The Class Registration screen will appear.  The screen will indicate that courses have not been requested by the 0 credit hours at the bottom of the screen.

NOTE: Your Class Registration screen may vary depending on your year, but the procedure is the same.

Follow the course selection instructions provided on screen.  If courses are required and have not been selected for a particular area, a RED exclamation point will be displayed.  If courses for a subject area have already been selected or are optional, a GREEN check will display.  

*** While some categories may show a GREEN check, it is recommended that students check EACH category to make sure nothing is missed.  For example, a science may not be required, but you may NEED it this year so you would need to choose one.

Click the pencil beside the RED exclamation point of the subject area in order to select the appropriate course being requested.

A group of courses will be displayed.  Check the box beside the course being requested.  A message may appear indicating the number of courses needed to select. 

The screen will display information regarding your selection.  This may include a prerequisite or teacher recommendation.   Teacher recommendations will appear in the "Alert" column.  You may choose the recommended course or another course but take the teacher recommendation seriously as they know your most recent perfomance in that particular subject this year.

Select "Ok" to save the selected course and proceed to another subject area.

The selected course will display on the screen, along with a GREEN check to indicate you have completed the requirement for that subject area.

Proceed to each core subject area that you need this year.  (English, Math, Science, Social Studies)

After you have chosen your core courses, you will need to choose your TOP electives from any of the remaining categories (except Alternate Electives).  

Examples: If you have 4 core classes, you will need to choose 4 TOP electives.  If you have 5 core classes, then you need to choose 3 TOP electives.  

Elective course request

Finally, you will need to select 3-4 ALTERNATE electives.  These are your backup electives in case one or more of your TOP electives do not work.  These should be DIFFERENT than your TOP electives. 

Regardless of what type of course it is (fine art, CTE, BRCC, etc.) you will select ALL of your alternates in the ALTERNATE category.  This ensures that we know these are your backups and not your first choices.

If you do NOT choose ALTERNATES, your counselor will choose for you if needed when creating your schedule.

Alternate Electives

When all courses are selected, the number of credit hours will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.  This does not include alternates.  You will need a total of 8 to submit.

Click Submit.

If the required number of courses is not selected, the screen will prompt a failure message preventing submission.  Proceed to select the required courses and Submit again.

When the course requests submission is successful, a screen with appear listing your course selections for the next school year.

Click the printer icon at the top right of the screen to print a copy of the requested courses if needed or you may take a picture to save on your phone.  

SENIOR Notes

If you wish to be a midyear graduate, you will find that in the Non Classroom category.  This will count for 4 of the required 8 credit hours needed for submission.

If you wish to have a late arrival/early release, you will find that in the Non Classroom category.  Students may only enter this once, so if you wish to have (2), ask your counselor to add the second one.

How to Submit Changes

If you have already submitted your courses but wish to make changes, students may submit changes anytime until the registration window has officially closed per the posted deadline.

To make changes, students need to login to their Student Portal and go to Class Registration just like when they registered the first time.

This will re-open the categories and show what they submitted last time.  From there, students can swap out courses as needed but MUST make sure to still have the required top 8 and 3-4 alternates.

In order to confirm changes, student must SUBMIT again at the bottom.  If they do not submit, changes will not be saved.
