Q: What is the SAT and the ACT?
A: The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and the ACT (American College Test) are standardized tests that colleges use to predict a student's potential for success in college, as well as, assess where you stand academically in relation to other students. Universities require you to submit SAT and/or ACT scores as a part of the application process.

A: Any college-bound student should take the SAT and/or ACT.
Q: When should I take the SAT and/or ACT?
A: You should take it your Junior year after you have completed Algebra II or Math 3. You can also take it again in the fall of your Senior year if you wish to try to improve your scores.
Q: How many times can I take the SAT and/or ACT?
A: There is no limit in the amount of times you can take the SAT or ACT. Colleges will make admission decisions based upon the best combination of a student's English, Reading and Math scores taken from multiple test dates. Students are encouraged to take the test at least twice. Even small improvements in scores can influence college admission decisions.

A: Almost all four year colleges accept SAT and ACT scores equally. A student may choose to take both, in which case the college will use the higher of the two scores to make their admission decision. A: You can pick-up a registration packet in the Guidance Office, or you can register on-line. Students who register on-line will be able to view their results on-line sooner than students who mail in a registration packet.
