~Technology Rockstars~

Lucas Wright - Fourth Grade Teacher

Richlands Elementary

How have you adjusted this year to having students online and in-person? Would you like to share any tips that have made the transition easier?

"I have adjusted to this year by learning all about the technology that I use and by taking a lot of deep breaths. One thing that I found made the transition easier, was accepting that it all wasn't going to run smoothly at first. A lot of trials and errors later, and we are still learning; however, the students are understanding how to use the technology better and that makes a huge difference in being able to implement the new teaching tools I have."

What are your favorite websites or applications that you use in your classroom?

"I love to use Study Island, Kahoot, Kami, Screencastify, IXL, Boom Cards, and all of the Google applications."

Do you have a new program or activity you are using that other teachers might like to try?

"Boom Cards are one of my new favorite teaching tools! They are like flashcards, but so much better! The students enjoy them because they can interact with the cards and get instant feedback."

TestNav Practice

Testing season is here! If you are wanting your students to practice the tools for the SOL test or to show your students something they will see while testing you can practice using the student Chromebooks while students are in your classroom. To have easy access to TestNav, have your students do the following:

1) Sign out of the Chromebook.

2) On the sign in screen, look at the lower left side and find the Apps button. Click "Apps" and then click "TestNav"

3) The first time you have students go to the TestNav site they may have to find Virginia. Once the Virginia sign in screen appears, click "SOL Practice Items" in the middle of the screen.

The numbers don't lie -

We LOVE Screencastify!
