What is your favorite part about using Technology?
"I love everything about technology. It gives us so many resources. We can take our kids anywhere in the world at the click of a button."
What is a new program or activity you are using that other teachers might like to try?
"I am working on learning all the wonderful uses in Google Suite. I am using the Flippity application to make crosswords, learning games and flash cards for review. The Google Slides is an awesome way to present my interactive lessons. I have been taking all my Professional Development classes in Google Classroom. It has been so easy to learn and the kids will love using this method. I think this is going to be a wonderful resource for our teachers and students to use."

October is National Cyber Security Month. Check out these tips to help you stay safe!
Create secure passwords
Sign out of email and other accounts especially on computers used by multiple people.
Lock your door when you leave your classroom.
Beware of Phishing scams. These emails will look like they are coming from a familiar account but could contain links and attachments that could steal your information. (Do not click on these threats). These usually come from email addresses that have already been compromised.
If you feel you have been hacked, change your password immediately and notify your ITRT or Hardware Tech in your area.

VHSL Esports Pilot Program Takes Off
Thursday, October 17th marked the first scrimmage before the inaugural Esports season for Richlands High School.
"It is exciting to be a part of getting this new program off the ground. It gives students who may not play traditional sports the opportunity to showcase their skills. It is a good way to teach teamwork while representing RHS in a competitive atmosphere," Head Coach Ronnie Sparks said.
Matches are scheduled on Thursdays after school and playoffs for the season will be in January.

Adobe Reader Opening Slowly?
We are seeing documents taking forever to open. Once you get your document open. Follow these steps to help Adobe Reader open in a flash!
Click Edit-->Preferences-->Security(Enhanced)-->Click to Disable the 'Protected mode at startup' and 'Enhanced security' -->click OK-->restart the application and you should be good to go!

Google Training Tool that teaches you how to use Google on your own time. Mini- Courses range from 5 minutes to 30 minutes based on difficulty level. Created and managed by the TCPS Tech Staff. Sign up for classes taught by TCPS employees that give you about a month to complete assignments. Re-certification points range from 5 to 20 based on length of the course.
