After all the hype and recommendations, I was sadly disappointed with this book. The fact that it's poorly written is the least of its weaknesses. The "extraordinary new approach" that Ron Clark espouses sounds like words from the boss's handbook in the 1950's. From his chapter "Take the Hint" he says, a teacher wanted to do an activity that he didn't like because the students would get sweaty in their uniforms. He finally gave into the annoying teacher (who couldn't take a hint) and he was right. The kids "did get sweaty, exhausted, and disheveled" and this is the reason Clark gives for thinking the activity was a bad one.
