Ditch that Textbook

I think this is a great book for teachers who are working in traditional settings and are looking for alternative ways to teach. For our teachers, there's not a lot here. I have found a few sections that I think are helpful that I'll take note of so that I can remember them!

On the other hand, Matt Miller has a great website which is chock full of ideas and well worth a visit. His podcast Google teacher tribe is also amazing. I listen to it on commutes and always pick up several "tips and tricks".

This is from chapter 14. I love the analogy of home owner/renter compared to students taking ownership of their learning. I completely agree with giving students control, but this chapter won't tell you how.
