Collaborator 4a

4a Dedicate planning time to collaborate with colleagues to create authentic learning experiences that leverage technology.

Friday, September 18, 2015 was the day I was introduced to Breakout EDU. A day I will never forget. It was a TCEA staff team building day and we participated in the Dr. Johnson's Zombie Apocalypse Breakout EDU. I was hooked!

I knew I had to share this authentic learning experience that leverages technology at conferences and conventions. Other teachers needed to learn about this tool.

I collaborated with my colleague Jennifer Bergland, to turn Dr. Johnson into an audience participation Breakout EDU. We took this breakout and added costumes, props, and dialogue to make it more interactive. The audience participation breakout turned out to become an amazing experience for both presenters and teacher participants.

Jennifer and I have since gone on and created two more audience participation breakouts: Deep in the Heart of Texas and the 2018 Winter Olympics Breakout.
