Math

St John Paul II C.S.S.

Hello and welcome to the Mathematics Department here at St John Paul II Catholic Secondary School!

The Mathematics Department offers 20 different courses, including grade 9 de-streamed math, to meet the academic needs of all our students. Whether you have an interest in pursuing a career in Engineering, the trades, Business and Finance or just want some practical use for your everyday life, we have courses that will fit your needs. The members of our Math department have experience in the fields of Engineering, Computer Programming, Pure Mathematics and Commerce. So, no matter where your interest may lie, the staff in the Mathematics department can offer guidance and suggestions as to what course is best for you.

If you are looking for a challenge, you can participate in the annual Mathematics competitions offered by the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) at the University of Waterloo. In the past three years, some of our students have been invited to the university to participate in Mathematic workshops! As well, in 2017 a group of students were awarded the ‘Best Paper’ in the International Mathematics Modelling Challenge held through York University. Nicely done Panthers!
