My primary goal in teaching physical education is to give kids opportunities to run and play and sweat, and find activities that will keep them active for life. "Find your fit" is our motto in gym class - what types of movement do you enjoy most? Running, climbing, throwing, catching, scating, striking ... all are essential skills for life. If my students leave gym class sweating and out of breath, I've done my job. We play all the traditional sports, like basektball, volleyball, soccer, and badminton, but also do lots of cooperative games like the ones below.
This was the "game of the year" last year for many students and teachers - it keeps kids running and active, throwing, and safe.
When you have time to set up blue mats, cones, balls, and scooters, kids LOVE this game!
Another throwing, catching, and running game, this one adds balance and strategy. Kids enjoy it!
