SCHOOL CODE OF BEHAVIOUR

Brebeuf aims to provide for its students and its staff a safe and welcoming learning and teaching environment that is an example of Christian community. To achieve this, it is expected that all members of the school community will:

  • demonstrate honesty and integrity;

  • take appropriate measures to help those in need;

  • contribute positively to the Christian climate and culture of the school;

  • show proper care and regard for school property and the property of others;

  • co-operate in a positive manner in observing the expectations and the regulations of the school;

  • realize that learning demands work and effort;

  • accept responsibility for their own learning, choices and actions;

  • display as much concern for their responsibilities as their rights;

  • be accountable for punctuality at school and for regular attendance;

  • take pride in wearing the school uniform throughout the school day;

  • display respect personal grooming and hygiene;

  • display courteous behaviour both on and off the school property.

Demonstrating respectful behaviour by:

  • respecting all members of the school community, especially those in a position of authority;

  • respecting differences in people, their ideas and opinions;

  • respecting and treating others fairly and with dignity, regardless of their race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability;

  • resolving differences in a respectful manner;

  • respecting the rights of others, including the right to work in an environment that supports learning and teaching;

  • not swearing at anyone, especially at a teacher or other person in a position of authority;

  • respecting and complying with all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws;

School Policy on matters relating to VIOLENCE, DANGEROUS MATERIALS, and ALCOHOL/DRUGS mirror the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s policy.
