Social Emotional Learning: RULER

Watertown Public Schools believe that the social emotional wellbeing of students is an integral part of a child's academic experience. Viewing a child's school experience through the lenses of: academics, physical wellbeing and emotional wellbeing is necessary in order to provide the support and strategies students need to grow into well rounded individuals.

The Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence's RULER strategies can be used in the classroom and at home! You may hear your child come home and talk about their classroom charter or descriptive words to describe how they are feeling.

See below to learn more about RULER Anchor Tools.

The use of RULER strategies encourages students to be able to:

Recognize, Understand, Label, Express and Regulate emotions.

Watertown families who are interested in trying out RULER anchor tools at home, you may be interested in making a Family Charter of your very own! See below to see how you and your family can become more Emotionally Intelligent!
