In September 2021, Watertown's Curriculum Council was established. The PURPOSE of this council is to determine how we will audit existing district curriculum and create a district system for ongoing review and revision of curriculum (Curriculum Review Model) in alignment with our goals and priorities, including but not limited to:
Increasing stakeholder input
Demystifing curriculum development and curriculum content for all stakeholders
Maintaining up-to-date curriculum, and corresponding instructional materials aligned to the Common Core State Standards
Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment and common experiences for students
The RESPONSIBILITIES of this committee include the following:
Obtain vertical and horizontal stakeholder input
Determine an accurate and detailed picture of the status of current curriculum across all grade levels and content areas
Research and select a curriculum review model to adopt as a district
Determine all logistics related to the curriculum review and prevision process
Make recommendations to help inform district policy for curriculum review, writing and adoption
Research and select a consistent and transparent practice for sharing district curriculum with all stakeholders
Set a rigorous yet realistic timeline with attainable goals and action steps for moving forward for where we need to be
