After a successful launch of the Inaugural Southeast Asian Media Studies Conference 2021 (SEAMSC'2021), we are delighted to announce the 2nd edition of the annual conference, the Southeast Asian Media Studies Conference 2022 (SEAMSC'2022), one of the must-attend international gatherings for academic members, and industry leaders across the region.
Join us from 9 to 11 June 2022 together with other global communities which include but are not limited to academic members, scholars, and researchers, education consultants, media strategists, media instructors and trainers, non-profit organizations, policymakers, media ecologists, government officials, media entrepreneurs, influencers, graduates and aspiring scholars.
Over the span of 3 Days, the 2nd Southeast Asian Media Studies Conference 2022 (SEAMSC'2022) will engage with members from reputable and leading universities, institutions, and other agencies around the world for knowledge, skills, and experience-sharing through the vibrant Keynote speakers, eloquent presentations, insightful theme panel sessions, and thought-provoking expert panel sessions.
The theme for the 2nd Southeast Asian Media Studies Conference 2022 (SEAMSC'2022) is 'MOVING FORWARD' and some of the critical questions to be explored include the need in reassessing the commitment of main institutions, such as the government agencies, corporate bodies, non-government organizations, industry players, and professionals to reform the key issues and concern surrounding media as crucial measures to enable us to move forward.

AIM & OBJECTIVES OF SEAMSC'2022
Aim: The 2nd Southeast Asian Media Studies Conference 2022 (SEAMSC'2022) aims to establish a long-term connection among community members from across the Southeast Asian region and on a worldwide scale with the significant intention of knowledge sharing, idea exchange, as well as the initiation of potential collaborative works on issues that are essential to media studies, knowledge, and practices.
Objectives:
Aim: The 2nd Southeast Asian Media Studies Conference 2022 (SEAMSC'2022) aims to establish a long-term connection among community members from across the Southeast Asian region and on a worldwide scale with the significant intention of knowledge sharing, idea exchange, as well as the initiation of potential collaborative works on issues that are essential to media studies, knowledge, and practices.
Objectives:
To optimize the platform in advancing knowledge and practices on media studies across the regional and global levels
To elevate the engagement with other reputable institutions and potential stakeholders from both the region and the worldwide scales
To create the visibility of the conference and its affiliations in the national and international media
To boost the numbers of the conference submission and articles publication
To expand the number of the SEAMSA member
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS FOR SEAMSC'2022
The 2nd Southeast Asian Media Studies Conference 2022 (SEAMSC'2022) will feature Keynote Speakers who are well-respected scholars and also among the most influential thinkers and innovators in their respected fields from around the region and global scale.
PROF EMERITUS DR THOMAS A. BAUER
University of Vienna
Keynote Title: Horizons of Hope: Post-crises Concepts of Sociability
Professor Dr THOMAS A. BAUER is currently a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Communication at the University of Vienna. He began his career at the University of Vienna since 1993 as Chair of Audio-visual Media, developing a working program in Media Culture, Media Literacy Studies, and Media Theory throughout the years.
His research and teaching interests include Future Studies, Environmental Communication, Health Communication, Transcultural Dialogue of Religions, Cultural Studies, Migration, Minorities, and Social Change Issues
ASSOCIATE PROF DR SABARIAH
MOHAMED SALLEH
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia
Keynote Title: Freedom of Speech and Social Change
Associate Prof Dr SABARIAH MOHAMED SALLEH is currently attached to the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She is a strong advocate for media literacy and has campaigned for the inclusion of the subject in Malaysia's national school curriculum.
Her expertise and knowledge qualified her for a position with the National Economic Action Council (NEAC) of the Economic Action Council (EAC) Malaysia, where she currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Communication Division since March 2020
ASSOCIATE PROF DR PATRICK F. CAMPOS

Keynote Title: Truth-Telling and Activist Filmmaking Amid the Illiberal Information Disorder
Associate Prof Dr PATRICK F. CAMPOS is a Filipino cinema historian, educator, programmer, and film critic. He is an Associate Professor of cinema studies at the University of the Philippines Film Institute, where he formerly served as Director (2018-2020).
His study examines the intertwining of political and cinematic discourses in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, as well as the engagement with and problematization of conceptions of national and regional cinemas in the country.

PUBLICATION
We welcome any written work for publication in the Southeast Asian Media Studies Journal (SEAMSJ).
The Southeast Asian Media Studies Journal (SEAMSJ) is the international, bi-annual, blind peer-reviewed, and open-access scholarly journal of the Southeast Asian Media Studies Association (SEAMSA)
It publishes open-call and special themed issues. Each issue includes a section for scholarly articles and another section for the reviews of books, film festivals, exhibitions, and media events.
Every issue is guest-edited by a media studies expert.

HOW TO BE INVOLVED WITH SEAMSA
The Southeast Asian Media Studies Association (SEAMSA) welcome any participation in any activities from both existing member and non-member. You can be involved with the association in the following ways:
Membership
- Members of the association will receive their Membership ID, discounted rate for selected Asian events or activities organized by the association, as well as voting rights for the Executive Council during the Annual Grand Meeting of the Southeast Asian Media Studies Association (SEAMSA)

ABOUT SEAMSA
The Southeast Asian Media Studies Association (SEAMSA) is an international organization made up of community members who are passionate about media studies and research in the Southeast Asian region.
The organization was established in 2017 with the intention of promoting and elevating Southeast Asian media studies and research.
