The 2nd Southeast Asian Media Studies Conference 2022 (SEAMSC'2022) will feature Keynote Speakers who are well-respected scholars and also among the most influential thinkers and innovators in their respected fields from around the region and global scale.
PROF EMERITUS DR THOMAS A. BAUER

Keynote Title: Horizons of Hope: Post-crises Concepts of Sociability
Professor Dr THOMAS A. BAUER is currently a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Communication at the University of Vienna. He began his career at the University of Vienna since 1993 as Chair of Audio-visual Media, developing a working program in Media Culture, Media Literacy Studies, and Media Theory throughout the years.
His research and teaching interests include Future Studies, Environmental Communication, Health Communication, Transcultural Dialogue of Religions, Cultural Studies, Migration, Minorities, and Social Change Issues
ASSOCIATE PROF DR SABARIAH
MOHAMED SALLEH

Keynote Title: Freedom of Speech and Social Change
Associate Prof Dr SABARIAH MOHAMED SALLEH is currently attached to the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She is a strong advocate for media literacy and has campaigned for the inclusion of the subject in Malaysia's national school curriculum.
Her expertise and knowledge qualified her for a position with the National Economic Action Council (NEAC) of the Economic Action Council (EAC) Malaysia, where she currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Communication Division since March 2020
ASSOCIATE PROF DR PATRICK F. CAMPOS

Keynote Title: Truth-Telling and Activist Filmmaking Amid the Illiberal Information Disorder
Associate Prof Dr PATRICK F. CAMPOS is a Filipino cinema historian, educator, programmer, and film critic. He is an Associate Professor of cinema studies at the University of the Philippines Film Institute, where he formerly served as Director (2018-2020).
His study examines the intertwining of political and cinematic discourses in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, as well as the engagement with and problematization of conceptions of national and regional cinemas in the country.

We welcome any written work for publication in the Southeast Asian Media Studies Journal (SEAMSJ).
The Southeast Asian Media Studies Journal (SEAMSJ) is the international, bi-annual, blind peer-reviewed, and open-access scholarly journal of the Southeast Asian Media Studies Association (SEAMSA)
It publishes open-call and special themed issues. Each issue includes a section for scholarly articles and another section for the reviews of books, film festivals, exhibitions, and media events.
Every issue is guest-edited by a media studies expert.
