2025 Community Food Team Highlights
The Community Food Team with their Paper Plate Awards at Connected Communities’ Beechwood and EMMA Neighborhood Community Hub.
The Southwest branch of the 2024 CFT, the Sunflower Crew, operated out of Wilson Magnet High School, and they completely revitalized its garden:
designed and installed a hardscaped path
upgraded raised beds
planted a variety of perennials
painted and installed new garden signs
installed a variety of other placemaking features, including benches and birdfeeders
The Northwest branch of the 2024 CFT, the Garden Guardians, collaborated closely with community gardener Inez Burns-Nixon to revitalize the garden's raised beds, fencing, and landscaping.
At the LOCA Community Garden at the Lyell Branch Library, the 2023 CFT:
installed a perennial garden bed
built a new seating area
created educational signage
and upcycled materials for an art installation
At the Flower City Noire Collective's Genny Love Garden, the 2023 CFT:
landscaped the previously vacant lot
planted and mulched in-ground flower beds
installed new raised garden beds
built an arbor and community bulletin board
and built a 3-bin compost system
