Are you trying to start, steward, or improve a garden, and are not sure where to begin? Our team will meet with you to learn about your goals and needs, and put together a plan for how to reach them.
We’re committed to making sure that everyone has the knowledge they need to succeed at community gardening. We host monthly workshops at First Market Farm, offer professional development for teachers and school gardens, and can lead fully customized workshops for all ages at your garden. Don’t have a garden? No problem! Our educators can offer gardening-related programs in any setting.
Each spring and fall, we host free drive-up distributions of useful supplies for starting and ending your growing season, including seeds, bulbs, tools, mulch, and compost. Join our email list to get notified when registration opens.
Are your raised beds falling apart? Do you want more space for pollinators or composting? Are you trying to make your garden more welcoming for kids or people with disabilities? Our urban agriculture experts can work with your volunteers and participants to design, deliver, and install solutions for your gardening needs. We’re also looking for a few gardens each summer to be work sites for our youth program - the Community Food Team - where we can complete several projects over the course of a few weeks.
It takes a lot more than plants to run a successful community garden. Taproot can help you with all sorts of resource navigation: finding and applying for grants, strategies for collecting donations and managing volunteers, understanding permitting, connecting with other partners, accessing demographic and food system data, and support with communications and outreach.
