To support community gardens in Rochester through programs, materials, and policies and to use these settings for high-quality youth workforce development.
A City of Rochester filled with vibrant neighborhoods.
We operate with a central focus on stewardship, integrity, justice, cultural humility, equity, and excellence.
A taproot is a large, central root that grows down into the earth, freeing nutrients and growing space by breaking up soil as it goes. By modifying and enriching its local environment in such a way, a taproot can pave many paths for plants in otherwise inhospitable conditions. It invites plants to join it and thrive.Â
As taproots help create shared growing spaces, we strive to do similarly by unlocking urban land's potential for food sovereignty, environmental justice, and community. For this reason, 'Taproot' is our namesake and a beet is our symbol.
