JILING LIU

Biography

I received my Ph.D. in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University in 2016 and joined the Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management as a Clinical Assistant Professor in 2017. At this job, I teach undergraduate Physical Education pedagogy and Kinesiology foundation courses. I incorporate self-regulated learning and transformative learning practices in my teaching. All online courses I teach and taught have been recognized by Quality Matters. My research focuses on effective teaching and self-regulated learning, physical activity and motivation, and measurement and evaluation. In 2021, I received a Presidential Transformational Teaching Grant from Texas A&M University to support my action research. I have authored and co-authored more than two dozen of professional articles published in top tier peer-reviewed journals in the field of Physical Education and Exercise Science and presented more than fifty research abstracts during national and international conferences. I co-chaired three doctoral committees and currently serve on six master’s committees. In 2019, I was selected as a Research Fellow of SHAPE America and the sole recipient of the Early Career Excellent Research Award of the International Chinese Society for Physical Activities and Health (ICSPAH). I also received the Excellent Teaching Award from the ICSPAH in 2021 and the 2022-2023 Provost Academic Professional Track Faculty Teaching Excellence Award at Texas A&M. Starting from 2022, I serve on the editorial board for the Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
