2nd Grade

Welcome to Second Grade Art! In second grade, students will deepen their understanding of art by exploring a variety of artistic styles, techniques, and materials. Young artists will create projects using drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and design while learning how to organize shapes, colors, and space in creative ways. Students will be encouraged to use imagination, problem-solving, and careful planning to create artwork that reflects their ideas and experiences.

Our lessons are aligned with the Ohio Visual Arts Standards and help students develop skills in creativity, observation, and artistic expression. Second graders will learn to talk about artwork using art vocabulary, recognize how art connects to history and culture, and reflect on their own creative process. Through hands-on exploration and collaborative activities, students will strengthen fine motor skills, build artistic confidence, and develop a greater appreciation for the visual arts and the world around them.
