1st Grade

Welcome to First Grade Art! First grade students will expand their artistic skills by exploring new techniques, materials, and creative challenges throughout the year. Young artists will experiment with drawing, painting, weaving, sculpture, and mixed media while learning how artists use art to communicate ideas, emotions, and stories. Students will practice using details, patterns, and careful craftsmanship to create original works of art that show creativity and personal expression.

Our lessons are designed to support the Ohio Visual Arts Standards by helping students create, respond, and connect through art experiences. First grade students will strengthen their artistic skills, creative thinking, observation, and communication by discussing artwork and reflecting on their own creations. Through hands-on projects and guided exploration, students will build confidence, problem-solving abilities, and an appreciation for the visual arts that will continue throughout their learning journey.
