Welcome to the great outdoors!! In this course we will look at a range of water activities from kayaking through to surf survival, and everything in between. We will attempt to make use of the awesome environment that we live in, with access to the pool, river and open ocean.
Below is a selection of videos demonstrating what a rip is. They cover what a rip is, how they are formed, how to spot and avoid them, and finally how to stay safe if you are caught in a rip. The most important thing to remember is to stay calm and never swim against the rip. Almost all rips go around the back of the breaking waves and then back into shore. So staying afloat will keep you safe.
