Analyse group processes in physical activity
This is a 3 credit assessment in which you will be assessed on your ability to analyse group processes. You will be put into a group and set a range of challenges over the term. As you work towards your groups goal, you will analyse the processes of your group and the negative and/or positive impacts of your groups ability to work well as a team.
Your task is to overcome a range of challenges that will be set over the course of the term. There will be a range of challenges from short quickfire activities to long challenges which will require careful planning and thought beforehand. You will be competing against other groups so get ready for some friendly competition
The Tuckman model, is a model designed to identify and track how well a group is functioning together. There are 5 stages to the model, which all new groups will go through at some point. Above are some videos which explain the model, the different stages and their key differences. Below is a diagram showing the performance of the group at different stages
We will use this model to analyse the effectiveness of your group. As well analysing how well, or not so well, your group is using behaviours and practises that lead to the effective functioning of a group. Some of those behaviours and practises are listed below:
We will look at these in more depth over the term.
This is Taras assessment from last year for you to look at. It wont be exactly the same, as we did a different context last year (Rafting), but looking at this will give you a good idea of what needs to be completed in your assessment. Also how to fill in the final summative entry at the end
