Students will study a range of texts based around the idea of power, how it is constructed and the effects on the society and individual within it. Research will involve exploring how power has been achieved and used in different times and in different places. This will provide an essential background understanding of texts such as George Orwell's '1984', Carol Ann Duffy's 'The World's Wife', Alice Walker's 'The Colour Purple' and a range of films which could include 'Hidden Figures', 'Missrepresentation and 'The Power of the Dog.'
