Our teaching staff to instructors of school subjects, but also therapists. Currently, we are assisted by: 4 psychologists, 3 speech therapists, 2 physiotherapists, 4 sensory integration therapists, 2 Hand Therapists.
In addition to school activities, our students with certificates of special educational needs participate in many therapy classes.
We teach our students an attitude of respect, acceptance and tolerance, which means that we do not have any signs of discrimination in classrooms and at school. Nevertheless, we run a variety of classroom activities. Since switching to distance learning, we have been looking for other solutions to support our tasks.
One of them are the books we have written. An example is shown below. (Note the booklet was written in Polish, and my English translation may raise doubts, but I am open to suggestions).
The time of remote learning is also the remote expansion of knowledge and skills of our staff. This time we learn the secrets of alternative texts. Thanks to the Cultural Foundation without Barriers, the Mili People Foundation and Wikimedia Polska, in the group of experienced educators of various specializations, we learn to create alternative texts, which are the key to reducing the barriers to expanding our knowledge and interests of people with disabilities. We look forward to the next meetings.
On October 17, 2020, 56 teachers participated in the global meeting organized by With The World. Among them was also a representative of our team - the only representative from Poland.
The topic of this meeting was PBL (Learning to Solve Educational Challenges). During this online conference, teachers discussed educational topics and problems in their schools and countries. Everyone was focused on finding effective solutions. A group has been established in social media, which will systematically communicate and exchange knowledge and experience. We are very pleased to be part of this community. The next online meeting is scheduled for November 21st.
We promote the awakening and development of their passions and interests among our students. Teaching by example is a great way. So we hasten to say that our specialist teacher, Przemysław Kalinowski, is not only a psychologist but also an athlete. He belongs to the staff of the "We can do it" team. In recent days, they won the Polish Beach Handball Championship. Yesterday there was a meeting with the mayor of the city.
Congratulations once again. We are glad that we have passionate people among our teachers.
On 3-5 July 2020, a representative of our staff, Mr. Mariusz Wojciński participated in the international "Free Knowledge Forum", which was held online due to the epidemic situation. During the forum, many issues related to the use of various sources of information and knowledge were raised.
It was nice to attend such an event. Free Knowledge Forum! Wikimedia Polska 2020 conference, which was attended by representatives of our teaching staff. During its lifetime many aspects related to Wikipedia's activities and the possibilities it gives users were raised. One of the elements was a virtual online tour around Krakow with a guide. There were also foreign guests, and the conference was simultaneously translated simultaneously. The last day was devoted to educational projects organized by Wikimedia Poland. There was also mention of our school. Our teachers could also learn the secrets of other interesting projects. The Wikiszkoła project will continue from September, as we are participants as one of 14 schools in Poland. We can't wait to use new ideas and solutions.
