I’ve been working at a Private Primary School in Inowrocław for two years. Before that, for 10 years I worked at the public primary school, for 2 years I worked at the Voluntary Labor Corps - school and apprenticeship in one - work with difficult youth. I also taught in adult high schools. I’ve extensive professional experience. The most interesting stage was working with difficult youth - two interesting years - to this day I meet my pupils and we are still happy to see each other . At first I found my current job daunting. The headmaster of the school, who is my friend from the previous primary school, tried to persuaded me for a long time to join. At the beginning, I became a tutor in a class of 15 people, including 4 students who had autism diagnoses. One of these pupils had difficulties with social maladjustment. After a month, I suspected that two other students in the class should also be assessed for an Autism diagnosis. At first my class hated me. I made clear rules and stuck to them consistently. The first rule - the end of tolerance for laziness - a capable class must show what it can do. I gave them the first month to complain about me. Every day they visited the school psychologist, because "Mr. Mariusz spoiled (I don’t understand what you mean by this...did the parents agree with you our the kids?) our parents - they stood on his side; Mr. Mariusz tells us to study", etc. In September last year, I informed the class that I was the tutor of another one. As they complained about me like that, I will give their class to another teacher. They blocked me out of the room. I love both classes - the first are 13-14 years old and the second are 10-11 years old. I call them my own vipers. Both classes were finished - literally a few teachers in two months - our staff had to change. Both classes are terribly well - coordinated teams - if someone is "hurt" they will be on his side - even if he's wrong. What's worse - they know that I will be on their side too. It happens that during lessons they can text me with a request for intervention. In distance learning, communication is still very good - we see each other every day and I’ve a full report (though not asking for it) for the whole day.
Privately - I’ve two wonderful sons - George 10 years old and John 6 years old. They both participate extensively in basketball training. They have a lot of energy.
My greatest honor was to innovate me for the national competition "Personality of the Year 2020" in the science category. I already feel like a winner despite the ongoing voting. Why? The place doesn't matter to me. I am glad that my, our activities at school and the local community met with interest. For me, my students are the winners because they achieve greater or lesser success. They are showing everyone that students with special educational needs can be important members of society.
The 2021/2022 school year brought several new achievements, because from this year I became a MIE Expert, and our school was included in the Wakelet School program.
Additionally, I was able to become a finalist of the Global Teacher Awards competition. Thank You.
