As part of the strategy, after analyzing the methods used in educational projects also in the Wikimedia in Education environment, the following were formulated: the main goal and specific goals of the program. The main goal is to make min. 3 primary schools and min. 3 LOs introduced the theory and practice of Wikipedia (and its projects) to the educational program of their institution for a long time according to a new model of cooperation developed within the project by Wikipediaists together with teachers.
The specific goals are:
Objective 1 Creation of educational tools using participatory methods for conducting pilot lessons / classes on digital competences with the use of Wikipedia in Polish language lessons and / jointly - computer science and / or history.
Objective 2 Increasing the knowledge and significant improvement of teachers' competences in the field of teaching key digital competences
Objective 3 Strengthening pro-social attitudes in student communities and teaching staff participating in the school program
Objective 4 Sustainable presence of instilled knowledge and tools in the school's curriculum and ecosystem
As part of the project, 14 experts from Poland were selected. Among them was a representative of our staff, P. Mariusz Wojciński. Due to the outcome of the epidemic, work on the project has slowed down, but all progress can be followed online on the website:
www.wikiszkola.pl
As part of the project, a group of our students set up their own Wikipedia accounts. We also made contact with the project coordinator - we met with the students at a videoconference, learning the secrets of the electronic encyclopedia. In addition, we have been assigned an experienced wikipedist who, becoming our substantive supervisor, supports our work on an ongoing basis.
We also participate in online conferences organized by Wikimedia Polska, to which various representatives of the world of culture are invited.
One of the elements confirming our participation is receiving the Wikiszkoła badge.
From Wikipedia: "In Wikiszkół we have another facility from Inowrocław! Recently, we have been joined by the local Private Primary School in Inowrocław, which teaches and educates children with various disability certificates on a large scale. And the teacher who saw the potential in our project and convinced the management to act was Mariusz Wojciński. He is a teacher who is passionate about science and deals with the implementation of e-learning systems at school. 📚📖
As he himself says: "I love breaking standards, especially with the participation of students, so we are looking for solutions to make our classes more attractive". And because our expert is eager to establish contacts - he and his students participate in numerous projects with the participation of teachers from all over the world. One of such projects is Wikiszkoła, where we count on creativity and inspiration in increasing the availability of Wikipedia content!"
On June 8, 2020, classes 5a and 6a participated in the online meeting chaired by Mrs. Klara Sielicka-Baryłka - representative of Wikimedia Poland. We learned how Wikipedia works and how to become a full user. The meeting took place as part of the Wikischool project implemented in our school.
