Stack 4 half-sheets of 9x12" construction paper or whatever paper you may have. Paper should be at least 5.5 x 8.5 inches, ideally 6 x 9 inches. A cover page is optional.
Fold in half to make a book. Crease the fold well.
Open the book up, being sure to keep all the pages lined up together. Punch holes in the fold 1 inch down, 1 inch up, and one in the center of the fold. Use a needle, nail, skewer, hole punch, pencil, or whatever you have that will make a hole.
Keep the book open and make sure the fold of the book is pointing up.
You will need about 2 feet of yarn, string, embroidery floss, dental floss, or whatever you might have.
Push the string through the center hole from the outside of the book to the inside of the book with a needle if you have one, or a bit of pipe cleaner or wire folded in half. Leave about 5 inches of string on the outside of the book. You will tie this to the other end when you are finished.
Go to the top hole and go through the top hole from the inside to the outside with the string.
Go down to the bottom hole and go through the bottom hole from the outside to the inside with the string.
Go up to the middle hole and go through the middle hole from the inside to the outside with the string coming out on the other side of the string going down the fold. Tie the 2 ends together with 2 knots and a bow if desired.
Decorate the front with drawings, interesting torn paper, tissue paper, pictures from printed material, etc.
Write your full name and grade neatly on the front or back.
Make a page for each project. Draw a picture of each project and label it with what it is and the country or area it came from. Include Szopka, Can Scenes, Matryoshka, Rug Design, and any other projects you have done from this website.
