At Walt Whitman, Extra Help is held every Wednesday morning at 8:30 AM. Teachers will invite students to attend Extra Help so they can target content and keep groups small to ensure individual learning needs. If you think your child would benefit from Extra Help, please reach out to your classroom teacher, special area teachers, or related service providers to discuss your child's needs.
Transportation is provided for Extra Help. If you would like to take advantage of transportation for this activity, please refer to the email that was sent out by the district in early September:
Dear Elementary Parents and Guardians,
We are very happy to announce that early morning elementary academic extra help and elementary level band and orchestra ensembles and rehearsals.
Each school will share specific details with families related to the academic extra help sessions.
Individual music teachers will follow up with specific information regarding rehearsals and the associated schedules for each ensemble.
Please read the important information below that contains directions regarding the early morning large bus and/or van runs:
Large bus runs (Route numbers 1-58): The early morning bus run will begin pick-up as early at 8:00 a.m. Students will generally be picked up 30-40 minutes earlier than their regularly scheduled pick-up time. The timing of the early morning bus run is determined by the number of students riding the bus and it may differ every day. After the first full week of operation, pick-up times should become more established.
Van routes only (Route numbers 60-124): Once your child’s schedule has been provided by the classroom and/or music teacher, please complete this request form on Family ID. On this form you will be asked to indicate the days of the week your student will need early morning transportation. Transportation will then notify the parent via email of the approximate pick-up time. The request form is only for students currently riding on vans.
*Parents of students on large bus runs do not need to request early morning transportation.
Sincerely,
Syosset Central School District
