Important Things to Know...

School Hours:

School begins at 9:15 AM

(Students will be marked late after 9:15 AM )

Parents can begin dropping students off at 9:00 AM

Students will be dismissed at 3:10 PM

We use a system called Pick-Up Patrol (PUP) to make life easier on our parents and dismissal safer for our building. If you are new to the building in any capacity, you will receive and email from Mrs. Nargentino (bnargentino@syossetschools.org) through PUP to register your child. Please do this immediately as we only accept this type of communication for changes in dismissal procedures (ie: if you are picking your child up early for an appointment or otherwise).

Dismissal Procedures:

IF YOU ARE PICKING UP YOUR CHILD AT ANY TIME OR CHANGING THEIR DISMISSAL PLANS FROM SCHOOL, please make make the necessary changes in Pick-Up Patrol. You MUST do this by 2:30PM. Failure to do so will result in a longer period of time for you to receive your child.
When you arrive, you must sign your child out using our QR Code posted on the main entrance door. This MUST be done ONLY when you are on campus waiting for your child to be dismissed.
If your child is being picked-up by another family or family member, BOTH families MUST communicate through Pick-Up Patrol. For example: Mr. Snyder is being picked-up by Dr. Rogers. BOTH Mr. Snyder and Dr. Rogers MUST complete this action in Pick-Pup Patrol.

Arrival Procedures:

When you enter the driveway from Woodbury Road, you will be greeted by a security guard who will direct you into the South Lot.

Parents: If you have children that needs assistance unbuckling their safety harness, please park in one of the designated parking spots in the South Lot.
If your children do not require assistance, please pull along the curb and allow all of the children in your car to disembark the vehicle on the RIGHT side of the car...curb-side. Please do NOT get out of your car unless there is a unique emergency requiring you to do so. All students should remain buckled until the vehicle comes to a stop and the students are asked to get out of the vehicle by a security guard or a member of the Walt Whitman Staff/Faculty.

Dismissal Procedures:

Dismissal will begin promptly at 3:10 PM

All Walkers will be dismissed at 3:10 PM to the Walker Door at the South end of the building.

Please park your vehicle in a legal, designated parking space.
Parking is available in the South Lot, North Lot and the Lot on the Hill, just pass the Building & Grounds building opposite the school.
Do NOT park in the handicap parking areas unless you have the legal documentation to do so.
Please use the sidewalks and the crosswalk; do NOT walk in the driveway.
Please keep your children with you at all times. Please do NOT play in the courtyard as class may still be in session.
Please do not let your children play on the large, decorative landscape rock in front of the Walt Whitman sign.
Students will begin dismissing from the South Exits at 3:10 PM.
