CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION
INTERACTIVE MEDIA
In Interactive Media, students will work on industry-standard hardware and software to learn skills in video creation and editing, image editing, web design, and moviemaking. This is a four-course program. Students take two courses junior year and two courses senior year. Over two years in interactive media, students will study design techniques, creating and editing digital images, social media content creation plus video production. Students will work on high-powered Apple computers and the Adobe Master Suite of programs. Programs include, but are not limited to, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.

FEEDER COURSES
Introduction to Visual Technology
In Intro to Visual Design, you'll learn the essential design skills needed for a career in Visual Communications. This introductory class teaches you how to create and edit images using Adobe Photoshop on state-of-the-art computers. Step-by-step lessons guide you through various techniques, from building layers and formatting text to advanced photo manipulation and animations. Each lesson ends with an independent assignment to reinforce your skills. Specific lessons include creating collages, formatting text, building layers, designing fantasy landscapes, face morphing, applying vintage distressed textures, turning photos into art, photo manipulation, creative text effects, room enhancements, portrait correction, head swapping, and using touch-up tools. Additionally, this class introduces Illustrator software to expand your creative toolkit. It’s designed for technically-minded students who want to develop the skills needed to succeed in today’s visually-driven world!

2D Game Design - Programming Fundamentals
The 2D Game Design course offers an exciting introduction to the world of game creation. Students will explore the rapidly expanding digital game industry and develop foundational skills in game design and development. They will learn industry-standard programming concepts, including JavaScript and HTML coding, as they create a variety of two-dimensional games. The course will begin with students designing their own board or card games, providing a hands-on experience of game mechanics and design.
In addition to technical skills, students will engage in creative problem-solving as they plan the logic for games designed to challenge players of all ages. They will also create game assets and learn how to incorporate graphic design and storyboarding into their projects. By the end of the course, students will have a deep understanding of the legal and ethical issues involved in game design and development.
Students will develop valuable employability skills and career readiness while working on projects designed to be completed in class. They will also gain the ability to build games for deployment online via HTML. After completing this course, students will have the knowledge and skills to take their original game ideas from concept to final testing, ready for deployment in a real-world setting.

Today's Technology
This course is designed to enhance students' proficiency with modern digital technologies and prepare them to succeed in today’s technology-driven world. Through hands-on projects, students will explore a wide range of digital tools and applications that help them manage, evaluate, and create information effectively. The course will cover communication and networking tools, social media platforms, and other digital technologies that are integral to personal, academic, and professional life.Students will also learn to assess the trustworthiness of online information, utilize collaboration and presentation tools, and work with organizational apps and concept mapping tools. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to navigate the digital world responsibly and efficiently, with the skills necessary to succeed in both their academic and future professional lives.

Design Techniques
Students will learn essential techniques for transforming photographic images using digital cameras, computers, and mobile devices. The course will cover photo editing methods such as layering, color correction, masking, and applying special effects. Students will work with industry-standard software like Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to enhance and manipulate images creatively and professionally.
Web Design
Students will explore the fundamentals of the web environment with a focus on both Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). The course will also introduce web protocols, including FTP, TCP/IP, and HTTP. Students will gain hands-on experience creating websites using text elements, special characters, images, hyperlinks, and graphical tables to design functional and visually appealing web pages.
Creating and Editing Digital Images
Students will develop skills in designing, producing, and editing digital media, including interactive projects, websites, and social media content. They will use professional tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to create high-quality digital images. The course emphasizes best practices for image creation, editing, and production in a variety of digital contexts.
Video and Sound
In this course, students will create professional-quality video and audio productions for distribution across traditional and digital media platforms. Students will plan, produce, and edit media content, learning to develop scripts, create storyboards, and operate cameras. They will capture sound using microphones, apply special effects, and use editing software like Premiere Pro and After Effects to finalize their projects. This hands-on approach ensures students gain practical experience in multimedia production.
BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS OF AMERICA (BPA)
With 45,000 members in over 1,800 chapters across 25 states and Puerto Rico, as well as an international presence in China, Haiti and Peru, BPA is an organization that supports business and information technology educators by offering co-curricular exercises based on national standards. Students compete at local, state, and national levels to exercise skills learned in the classroom.
