Students will be able to: lead better lives, be work and career ready, build strong families, & make meaningful contributions to our community.

Can take as an elective anywhere from Freshman to Senior year.
Culinary Fundamentals
In this course, students will apply fundamental culinary techniques, such as knife handling skills and the recognition, selection and proper use of tools and equipment. An emphasis will be placed on "mise en place", the management of time, ingredients and equipment. Students will practice food safety and sanitation by following proper food handling and storage procedures.

Nutrition & Wellness
In this course, students will use principles of nutrition to ensure a healthy body throughout the life cycle. An emphasis will be placed on planning and preparing meals with an understanding of nutrients and their benefits, portion control and dietary needs. Additional information will include: body weight and management, the implementation of physical activity, improving the quality of sleep, and stress management.

Child Development
In this course, students will study the development of children from conception through preschool age. An emphasis will be placed on how to meet the developmental needs of a child at each stage (infant, toddler, preschool). Additional information will include: decisions and responsibilities associated with sexual relationships, birth and postpartum care, parenting styles, childhood abuse, development theories, and quality indicators for childcare options.
