Swift Creek Consulting was founded by Dr. Chris Joseph in 2016 to enable Chris to pursue the variety of work opportunities that came his way, but Chris has always enjoyed worked with others. Dr. Tom Gunton regularly supports Chris with strategic thinking, technical advice, and peer review, and several other associates are brought in when appropriate to support Chris. Between us we have a wide network of professionals, across a wide array of fields, that we can and sometimes do call upon to ensure that we bring the necessary skills and knowledge to our clients. Dr. Chris Joseph is Principal of Swift Creek Consulting. Chris is a consultant, researcher, facilitator, and instructor with expertise across the field of environmental management. Chris has been working in this field since 2004. Much of Chris’ work is in regards to major project development, such as mines and pipelines, and often with regard to economic and social impacts, Indigenous values and interests, and the public interest. Chris also works on a wide range of other topics such as cumulative effects, land and marine use planning, health impact assessment, and GHG emissions and climate policy. Chris has written guidance for senior governments in Canada, provided expert evidence on major projects to review panels, courts, and regulators in Canada and the US, published research in leading academic journals, and provides journal peer review. Chris holds PhD and masters degrees from the School of Resource and Environmental Management at Simon Fraser University and a B.Sc. Dr. Tom Gunton is Professor and Director of the Resource and Environmental Planning Program at Simon Fraser University and is a regular colleague on Swift Creek Consulting projects. Dr. Gunton has extensive professional experience including holding senior positions in the Governments of British Columbia and Manitoba, managing major regulatory and policy initiatives in these governments, providing expert testimony to national and provincial regulatory boards, and conducting and supervising research projects on a variety of resource and environmental matters.
