IT BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate

Level: Level 3

Entry Requirements: Grades 4 or above in your GCSEs including English and mathematics. It is also desirable for you to have had previous experience in studying IT or computer science at Key Stage 4.

A range of topics will be covered within this qualification, such as information technology systems, creating systems to manage information using databases, social media in business, using professional platforms and website development using bespoke software.

Computing BTEC National Certificate

Level: Level 3

Entry Requirements: Grades 4 or above in your GCSEs including English and mathematics. It is also desirable for you to have had previous experience in studying computer science at Key Stage 4.

You will develop a common core of IT knowledge, studying areas such as the relationship between hardware and software. You refine computational thinking skills enabling you to solve problems by analysing, developing and evaluating algorithms and computer code. You will also study IT systems security threats and the methods used to protect against them.
