The International Undergraduate Program (IUP) is a specialized pathway within Indonesia’s top-tier public universities designed for students seeking a global academic environment. These programs typically use English as the primary medium of instruction. While all IUP programs typically use English as the primary medium of instruction, the structure of the degree varies.
Before applying, it is important to understand these three distinct program tracks:
Single Degree
Students complete their entire four-year undergraduate degree in Indonesia. The curriculum is delivered in English, providing a global standard of education within the local university setting.
Joint Degree (Study Abroad / Exchange)
This track includes a mandatory or optional international exchange component. Students typically spend one semester or one full academic year at a partner university abroad to gain international experience before returning to graduate from their home university in Indonesia.
Double Degree (2+2 or 3+1 Program)
This is a collaborative program where students split their studies between two institutions. For example, two years in Indonesia and two years at a partner university abroad. Upon completion, students are awarded two distinct degrees: one from the Indonesian university and one from the international partner university.
Important Note: Admissions for IUP often follow a separate timeline and set of requirements from the regular national entrance exams (SNBP/SNBT). Please refer to the IUP Database below for specific details on registration dates (such as Talent Scouting or SIMAK KKI), entrance exams, and required documents.
