Advanced Placement (AP)

Advanced Placement (AP) classes are designed to be challenging for high-achieving students. Requirements to get into an AP course include a minimum GPA of 3.25 or subject area GPA of 3.25. Students who register for an AP class are required to take the AP test in the spring. If students do well on an AP test (typically by scoring 3 or higher out of 5 points), they can earn college credit. A 3 or higher on an AP test earns guaranteed credit at a public college or university in the state of Ohio.

AP courses also have additional weight (Academic Rigor Score) towards Sandy Valley's Cum Laude Honors.
