On January 8th, we went to a fish hatchery for a field trip and saw some cool fish like sturgeon and rainbow trout. There were cool facts we learned like how there was an aquifer under the entirety of Spokane Valley. They get about nine million gallons of water running through the facility a day up there from the aquifer. We saw a whole bunch of fish for example, we saw Golden trout, Tiger trout, Sturgeon, and lots of Rainbow trout. They said they get about eight million rainbow trout eggs a year. They also said they ship off the eggs to other hatcheries around Washington and they keep about 1.5 million for themselves. Our entire class also got to feed fish (rainbow trout) and there were a lot of trout that had scars and chunks missing out of them. One of them had a missing dorsal fin which means it couldn't swim so it just sat there and rolled in circles. We think it was from birds since there is nothing blocking them from getting in. After that we got our fish eggs and went home.
