One of the keys to Beyond Move On When Reading is ongoing progress monitoring that includes not only the academic, but also any social-emotional needs or concerns of the student which allows for data directed decision making. This serves several purposes:
It allows us to target intervention, no more "one size fits all."
It drives ongoing instruction.
It allows for a "data dashboard" for each student that can be used for future decision making and determinations, such as the possibility of needing to be evaluated by the student study or IPT team.
It allows counsellors, community specialists, social workers, schools, and district office to allocate needed resources to meet social-emotional needs of students
It provides for accountability.
