Ongoing progress monitoring and recordkeeping help ensure accountability so no student "slips through the cracks." With an ongoing progress monitoring record that includes academic as well as social-emotional student data, we can see the history of a student and know when, where, and why a student made, or failed to make progress holding everyone from the tutor, teacher, and case-worker to the principal, district office, and the whole academic community responsible for ensuring student success. In addition this record of student progress can serve as a guide to help guide instructional practice, interventions, student study teams, and coaching opportunities both with individual teachers and as part of ongoing Professional Learning Communities (PLC's). This shifts the accountability focus from one of blame to one of everyone taking responsibility for each student's success-"Every student succeeds, whatever it takes."
